We should all be cautious around intersections. There are 4 intersections in Nanaimo where there have been a significant number of crashes. ICBC has recently published crash information for the years 2009 - 2013.
Between 2009 and 2013 the highest crash location at 310 crashes over 4 years was Bowen Road and the Island Highway/ Norwell Drive. Second was the Island Highway and Rutherford/ Mostar at 309 crashes. Third was Island Highway and Northfield Road intersection at 279 crashes - mostly in the merge lane onto the Island Highway. Fourth was the Island Highway and Aulds Road/ Hammond Bay Road at 271 Crashes.
Please take extra care around these intersections. These four Intersections are places where you are very likely to be in a collision. Drive defensively, and don't follow too closely. Leave space to the car in front of you. Watch your speed, don't run yellow lights. We will all be better off if we all take more care.
